A/Prof Louis Wang is a consultant cardiologist with clinical expertise, fellowship training and research interests in general cardiology, echocardiography, arrhythmia, heart failure, anticoagulation, perioperative medicine and venous thromboembolism (including deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism). He has clinical appointments at Sydney Hospital, Liverpool Hospital and St Vincent's Hospital. Widely recognised as an expert teaching physician, he is heavily involved in clinical care and medical education on the campuses where he practises. He previously served for three years as the Director of Physician Training at St Vincent's Hospital (2019-2021), and is the current Supervisor of Physician Training at Sydney Hospital, and Associate Head of School, St Vincent's & Mater Clinical School, University of Notre Dame. He is an examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

A/Prof Wang graduated from the University of New South Wales with the University Medal in Medicine and First Class Honours for graduating first in his class. He also holds a Masters of Medicine from the University of Sydney, a Masters of Pulmonary Vascular Diseases from the University of Bologna (Italy) and a PhD from the University of New South Wales for groundbreaking research in high frequency echocardiography. Cardiology and subspecialty fellowship training was completed at St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney, and Vanderbilt University Medical Centre, USA. He is a Churchill Fellow, Lindau Laureate (Australian Academy of Science), American Heart Association FGTB Young Investigator Award finalist and a recipient of the Society for Vascular Medicine Alan T. Hirsch Award. He is widely published in leading high impact cardiovascular and general medicine journals, including The Lancet, Circulation, European Heart Journal, and Medical Journal of Australia.
